Home/Writing/Byers, Mary and McBurney, Margaret Print This Page

Byers, Mary and McBurney, Margaret.  “Group of Seven convened in the

parlor.”  In Globe and Mail, Dec. 13, 1984, p. L4.  Illus.

            “…house once owned by C.W. Jefferys…”

“Champlain and his astrolabe on the Ottawa River”

Several paragraphs about CWJ and the house, as well as Group – see binder

“The group wanted Jefferys to join them but he was reluctant

to become part of a movement and preferred to pursue an

independent course.  In 1942 he remarked (with a degree of

wishful thinking) that ‘the freak self-expression and stylization

era is on its way out’.”
