Wilhelm Funk (1866 - 1949) was a German-born artist who came to the US in 1885.  He studied in Germany, and continued at the Art Students’ League in NY.  He was an illustrator, with CWJ, at the New York Herald, and also for magazines such as Scribner’s, Harper’s and Century. A friend and colleague of Jefferys!
